AP SPANISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

This course emphasizes the use of Spanish for active communication in real life tasks, it focuses on developing your abilities in the three modes of communication (Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational) and strengthening your cultural competencies through theme-based instruction utilizing a variety of authentic resources, such as newspapers, magazines, pod casts, blogs, advertisements, television programs, films, music, video clips, and literature. Grammar and vocabulary are developed through contextualized study.

The exam is 3 hours long and includes both a 95-minute multiple-choice section and an 85-minute free-response section. The multiple-choice section accounts for half of the student’s exam grade, and the free-response section for the other half.

Beginner or advanced, you can work at your own pace and your own schedule with lessons completely tailored to your needs. Lessons can be held in our office or your private location. Audio and written materials are included at no additional cost.

AP SPANISH LITERATURE AND CULTURE

Develop your Spanish language proficiency and your cultural understanding through careful reading and critical analysis of literature written in Spanish.

Whether you are currently taking one of these classes in your school, you only need some extra support or you want to take this course independently, I can help you in either case and prepare you to pass the respective exam (AP Spanish Language and/or Spanish Literature and Culture Test).

I specialize in private lessons. This setting allows me to utilize the student's best learning modality while correcting any weaknesses they may present during the language acquisition. By addressing students by their learning modality, learning becomes much more pleasant, effective and overall, a very successful experience. I offer other group settings such as semi-private and group classes by request.

Language B Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL) course is designed for students with previous experience in learning the language. It is a very comprehensive course in which students will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Furthermore, they will need to be able to analyze and draw conclusions of the core themes: Communication and media, Global issues, Social relationships and which will include Spanish literature, current events, art and history among others.

This course enhancement will help students to work with challenging areas while strengthening their verbal skills and their knowledge of the Spanish language and culture. To ensure success approving this subject, we have multiple practices in the External and Internal Assessments.

Language ab initio (SL) course is a language acquisition course for students with little or no experience of the language. It is organized into three themes: individual and society, leisure and work, and urban and rural environment. Students will need to develop the ability to respond and interact appropriately in a defined range of everyday situations within the appropriate intercultural frame. To ensure success approving this subject, we have multiple practices in the External and Internal Assessments.

I am familiar and well-experienced in teaching the curriculum for private schools such as St. Andrew’s, St. Francis, Khabele, St. Michael’s, Regents, St. Stephen’s and Trinity. Also, I work with students from public schools such as EANES ISD (Westlake High School and Hill Country) as well as AISD (Austin High).
